Cristela D'EliaBA, MSc, MFT, CAMFT

Counsellor and Associate

Cristela has a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and is a member of the Canadian Association of Marriage and Family Therapy. She has experience working with couples, individuals, and adolescents who have struggled with relationship issues, divorce, depression, anxiety, addictions, and a variety of other mental health issues.

Cristela uses a collaborative approach to counselling which includes Solution-Focused, Cognitive-Behavior, and Gottman Method Couples Therapy.

Cristela teaches online undergrad psychology courses at Athabasca University where she loves to share her knowledge of psychology with post-secondary students. She also coaches cheerleading at Freeze Athletics and has been involved in this sport for over 20 years. Cristela was also a competitive swimmer for many years.

When she is not working Cristela enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband, their dog, and their friends. She loves mountain biking, hiking, and stand-up paddleboarding. Cristela is also an avid traveler and enjoys exploring new places both locally and internationally.

Cristela moved to Kamloops with her husband in the summer of 2019 to be able to enjoy more of the great outdoors that they both love so much.

Cristela is a first-generation Canadian; her family is originally from Argentina. She is bilingual in Spanish and English. She was born and raised in Edmonton but spent part of her childhood living in Argentina. Her multicultural background has provided her with a greater understanding and appreciation for the importance of culture and she enjoys working with people from different backgrounds.
